Located in a former warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, the Uhuru Showroom serves as a collaborative space where the office, design studio, and prototype shop coexist under one roof. The showroom encourages designers and visitors to interact with the furniture and team. The project included designing the showroom with color schemes, vignettes to showcase pieces, and a coffee shop pop-up at the entrance.
Additionally, the design connected the showroom on the ground floor with the office directly upstairs. The custom steel and wood staircase required coordinated fabrication and installation oversight. The main flight is constructed entirely from bent 3/16" steel, while the bottom flight and landing are made of antique pine joists, salvaged while cutting the floor opening during installation.
