Restaurant at Gilder

Following a successful Brooklyn Museum collaboration, the hospitality company Restaurant Associates engaged us to design Restaurant at Gilder in The Gilder Center, Studio Gang's new wing for the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan.

Given complete creative freedom and inspired by the adjacent insect collection, we developed a honeycomb concept that informed all design elements. The signature golden-yellow honeycomb ceiling fixture reflects light throughout the space, creating a warm, whimsical environment for families. The project required custom design of every element and extensive coordination with Studio Gang, consultants, and the Museum. The 100+ seat design incorporated acoustic features for sound control, with all furniture custom designed to meet stakeholder requirements.
