Domino park
Located on the site of the former Domino Sugar refinery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn's newest waterfront park serves as a tribute to the history of this diverse neighborhood. The design included over 1,000 linear feet of custom benches, incorporating charging stations and wireless access points within powder-coated aluminum bases. All 60 outdoor pieces featured wood slats made from reclaimed antique heart pine beams salvaged from the 1882 refinery building.
The project required comprehensive design, engineering, production and installation coordination to integrate modern amenities with historical materials. The reclaimed heart pine creates a direct connection to the site's industrial heritage while the integrated technology supports contemporary park usage. This approach transforms utilitarian park furniture into storytelling elements that honor the neighborhood's manufacturing legacy.
