Soundview Hotel

Located on the waterfront of Greenport, Long Island, the Sound View Hotel occupies a 1950s motel site transformed through collaboration with Studio Tack. The design merges New England modernist influences with nautical references honoring the North Fork's fishing and boat-building heritage.

Custom furniture and lighting define the 55 guest rooms, restaurant, piano bar, and lobby spaces. Pine wood paneling and pale oak floors create warm, cabin-like interiors while maintaining minimal compositions that prioritize water views. Burgundy accents throughout the property on exterior awnings and outdoor furniture depart from expected nautical blue palettes.

The Halyard restaurant employs white-painted walls and simple material choices to frame the Long Island Sound as the focal point. This approach transforms a mid-century roadside motel into a contemporary waterfront destination that balances nostalgic charm with functional hospitality design.
